As a psychologist and meditation practitioner, I’ve been interpreting my dreams for decades. My experiences with lucid dreaming almost always involved attempts to influence my dreams as they were happening. I began working with dreams “in reverse,” so to speak, through dream incubation and imagery rescripting, in my early twenties. Only recently did I create dream themes and a “reverse” journaling method to influence dreams before they happen. This process seemed straightforward at first, but its depth and complexity soon became clear. Reverse dreamwork is a path to self-insight and personal transformation.
